From Nursing to Energy Work... 

 

I'm a traditional, western trained Registered Nurse from the foothills of the Ozark Mountains. After becoming an RN in 2007, I found my passion for healing in the pediatric emergency room of Arkansas Children's Hospital.  I moved across the country as a Travel Nurse on short term, high-need assignments for nearly a decade. By traveling as an ER nurse I learned quick critical thinking, adaptability, and compassion for patients and their families. On a daily basis we cared for ill and injured children, while supporting families on their most difficult days.  Holding space and providing compassionate care becomes second nature to nurses and healthcare providers.

In 2013, on one particularly busy evening in the ER, our nursing team was feeling the effects of low energy and high stress.  Our nursing department manager offered an unusual (to me at the time) method of care for the nursing staff:  energy healing through Healing Touch.  The Healing Touch staff typically provided support for oncology patients, and to our delight, extra time was set aside to support us!  A room was set up with a Healing Touch provider to provide healing and care to the exhausted nurses.  After just 15 minutes apiece, we all could feel the effects:  calmness, peace, balance, and even an ease in pain.  We were more present and focused, and ready to care again.  

My curiosity in energy healing was sparked.  Months later, a few of us began the hospital-sponsored Healing Touch classes, and began practicing energy healing.

This energetic awareness, and "work" was a catalyst to a huge shift in my life.  In 2013 I began researching and practicing holistic methods of healing, including Healing Touch, nutrition, meditation, yoga, qigong, dance, and connection with nature.  Holistic living became my goal and joy, while learning to balance body, mind, and spirit.

Why Reiki?  

​

After an emotional and difficult winter in 2015, with the advice of a friend, I sought energetic help from a local reiki practitioner.  It was an amazingly nurturing experience, and shortly afterwards I was drawn to learn the practice myself.  

I studied with and received reiki attunements I, II, and III under Reiki Masters Laura Magali and Paul Nelson in Eugene Oregon completing in 2016.  I am at the Master level of Usui reiki training, and I opened my reiki practice in January 2018.

I love sharing this gift of reiki, which not only balances and moves stagnant energy (like Healing Touch), but channels it from an unlimited source into its recipient.  Healing is literally at our fingertips! Reiki now flows through me naturally, and allows me to be more calm, focused, and present, as an RN, while giving sessions, and generally in life.

I'm a lifelong student, passionate about wellness and the healing arts.  I practice meditation and reiki daily, and my current favorite practices are PLAY and art-creation with my 2 small children. My babies teach me so much! 

 

When I'm not in the office or working as an RN, I love being with my family, creating artwork, boogying to live music, and exploring the outdoors.  I'm passionate about flow arts, and anything that can allow a person to be in the "flow state" -- for me that's dance, (hula) hoop dancing, painting/drawing, meditation, and making music.
